You know that beautiful new flat screen TV you bought last year? You ain’t seen nothing yet. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. If you’re impressed with the picture and style of that new TV you just added to the family room…wait until you see what’s coming next. At this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, LG showed a 55 inch TV with a stunning OLED screen that’s so thin it’s hard to believe. LG’s Michael Alessi…
“The benefit to OLED TV is that the organic material that’s used actually emits its own light, so there’s no need for a back light, which in turn can get you a 4 millimeter in depth TV. Because it’s so thin it’s only a little over 16 pounds for a 55 inch TV, which is about half the weight of a conventional 55 inch LED TV.”
LG says it will arrive later this year…and they aren’t yet disclosing how much it will cost. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
