Brain waves and toys. The fun continues. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Companies like Mattel and Uncle Milton are among those that have used technology developed by NeuroSky. There’s even a device called MindWave Mobile designed for smartphones. And now, there are animated cat ears that you wear…that respond to brain waves. NeuroSky calls them Necomimi. Marketing VP David Westendorf…
“As we pay attention, they pop up and as you relax, they droop down. And the third state is what psychologists call flow stage and that is to say when you might be putting and you just get into that state where the ideas come out or the putts sink, and when the ears wobble back and forth you are in the zone.”
At a hundred dollars, Necomimi, which means cat’s ears in Japanese, are more for grown ups than kids. While they are just fun and attention grabbing, there’s much more to come, both serious and silly from NeuroSky.
