Asus unveils dual screen Taichi & more

Techstination feature for Thursday, November 8, 2012

How many screens are on your laptop?   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    Computer makers are creating all kinds of new designs for Windows 8 notebooks that can serve as tablets as well.   One of most unique is from Asus.  The TaiChi looks like a typical clamshell notebook….but features touch screens on both the front and back.  What for?   Asus President Steve Chang….

“In commercial applications we can think about just like right now, we have a one on one meeting and I can show you the screen.  I can show you the Power Point from the cover side.  And then, for the other applications, you can close the cover and then it becomes a tablet.  And with the tablet, it supports Wacom, so you can use a stylus to draw, to write.”

The Asus Taichi has a starting price of about thirteen hundred dollars.   There are other, more affordable designs in the line up as well.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
