Connecting every light bulb…to the Internet. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. In the connected home these days…just about everything can be controlled by an app from a smartphone. Belkin has been one of the pioneers, with its WeMo technology….being used now in Crock Pots, a Mr. Coffee machine, portable heaters and humidifiers, cameras and light bulbs. And more lighting manufacturers have signed on to use WeMo. Director of Product Management Ohad Zeira….
“The first two partners we’ve signed up are Osram Sylvania and TCP. And between them, they’ll be lighting a whole plethora of experiences such as garden lighting, flexible LED strips, outdoor floodlights, even replacement down lights. So we really see that kind of a whole home lighting coverage continues.”
There are quite a few others in the connected lighting space too. They can turn on and off automatically when you arrive or leave….and because they use LEDs, they consume considerably less energy. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
