Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.    You’re accustomed to seeing the name Intel when it comes to your computer….but the company has big plans for being part of the technology in autonomous vehicles.    Intel’s Chief Architect for self driving solutions in Jack Weast and he is focused on tech inside the car…and in the cloud…

“These vehicles are going to generating a huge amount of data that needs to be processed within the vehicle to do the self driving.  But also with 5G and cellular connectivity you have data that’s going up to the cloud and then both in the development as well as the commercial deployment stage there’s a ton of data processing that’s going to happen in the data center or in the cloud.”

Weast says what he likes to tell people is that these self driving cars are coming soon….sooner than most of us think.
