“The intent is more to provide the ability for consumers to safeguard all those new devices they’re bringing into the home.   And the cost impact will be negligible if at all.  But the positive impact of the consumer having peace of mind that they’re able to secure all these connected devices is what’s important.”

McAfee, by the way, is also offering consumers a new Identity Theft Protection service as well on top of its well known computer security software.
