Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.        NASA’s new PACE satellite, launched in February, is giving scientists a clearing picture of the state of our oceans and our atmosphere as well.     NASA PACE oceanographer Dr. Ivona Cetnic..

“We’ve been getting so much more than we’ve ever been able to see before.  Previously we’ve been able to see just one color of the ocean, one green-ness of the ocean and we can see so many different colors and understand better what’s happening in the ocean, atmosphere and just global, all the earth systems.”

Dr. Cetnic says what the imaging shows is the impact of rising sea temperatures on phytoplankton, the base of the marine food web and she adds the data is being shared worldwide.   The information can be used to support policy decisions in both the public and private sectors.
