Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. Toy makers and retailers gathered again this month for the big American International Toy Fair in New York and among the hottest trends were toys and games that blend the past and present. Crayola has been a leader there…and of course there’s Lego. What about AI in toys. Chris Byrne…author and toy expert…they call him The Toy Guy… tells us..
“Where it’s influencing the toy industry is helping in design, but it hasn’t really filtered down to toys yet. One of the reasons is even though it works, it’s still very expensive. So we’re looking at 2026 and 2027 to start to see AI powered toys because people believe that the prices will have come down by that time. And again, AI makes sense if it enhances the play experience because that’s really what it’s all about.”
